The Hundertwasser 100 H20 sideboard is a standout piece of furniture, inspired by the famous architect Hundertwasser, a known opponent of "a straight line". This sideboard is a perfect blend of art and everyday living, with its organic forms and strong individualism, rejecting straight lines and standardization. The sideboard is a testament to the designer's passion for surreal design and fine craftsmanship.
What sets the Hundertwasser 100 H20 sideboard apart from other furniture pieces is its attention to detail and the craftsmanship involved in its production. The sideboard features asymmetric drawers in a range of non-ferrous metals, including copper, brass, and bronze, each with different shaped handles. The spider-style legs add a surreal feeling to the piece, while the drawers slide effortlessly and close softly, adding to its functionality.
The sideboard is made from solid wood, ash veneer, and a combination of various non-ferrous metals, such as brass, bronze, and copper. The finish of the body is stained and varnished, and the metals are satin brushed, revealing the craftsmanship involved in its production. The sideboard measures 1000 mm in width, 400 mm in depth, and 950 mm in height.
The design process of the Hundertwasser 100 H20 sideboard started in November 2017 and was completed in February 2018 in Riga, Latvia. It will be exhibited at Maison&Objet in Paris in September 2018. The design was a result of extensive research into the individual architectural design of artist and architect Hundertwasser, an opponent of "a straight line" and any standardization.
Creating the Hundertwasser 100 H20 sideboard was not without its challenges. In a world where design is often sterile and straight, creating something abstract, kitschy, and individual was a significant challenge. However, the end result is a unique piece of furniture that is a pleasure to behold, day after day.
The Hundertwasser 100 H20 sideboard is a testament to Renats Kotlevs - Kanttari's commitment to delivering exceptional modern and contemporary furniture design. This unique piece of furniture, with its organic forms and strong individualism, is an authentic piece of art, born of a passion for surreal design and fine craftsmanship. The sideboard was awarded Silver in the A' Furniture Design Award in 2018, a testament to its outstanding design and innovation.
